Scuderi Goes Viral, Gains Followers, Investors
The Scuderi Group’s new engine, which purports to save 35 percent on fuel usage by dividing the old four-stroke process between two separate cylinders, has been adding investors and believers to its ranks. Unable for legal reasons to reveal names of signatories, Scuderi does say that a total of 19 automotive-related companies have inked non-disclosure agreements with the creator of the new engine technology.
In fact, for its computerized simulations, Scuderi utilizes a Nissan Sentra as the “test car,” though no real-life vehicle has yet been fitted with the engine. An independent lab has been aggregating simulation data to come up with the 35 percent figure among other impressive numeric credentials that the company lists on its website (see bottom). Scuderi has, though, shown a full working model of the motor at several international car shows within the last year, and continues to head toward critical mass, financially speaking.
Compared to standard, internal combustion engines, the Scuderi teams two cylinders to handle the typical four strokes. While one does compression and intake, the other deals with exhaust and power. In addition, by employing a compressed air system to capture brake power (think regenerative braking in newer electric cars), the Scuderi reaches its advertised fuel numbers. Final efficiency in testing settles around the 65 mpg mark.
Since the combustion engine made its debut many decades ago, engineers and scientists have been tinkering with it in every conceivable fashion. This new technology, while still in its historic infancy, is slowly jumping through all the hoops that are put in front of it. From the perspective of a non-engineer, it all looks quite promising. Many in the industry are putting serious money behind it, signing on to the idea, and otherwise lending support.

Keep in mind that a working Scuderi engine which propels a vehicle has not yet happened. As well, all the performance data about efficiency, mpg and such are based on computer simulations by the company’s researchers. As of now, about $87 million has been raised. What can be done with that much money, in this sort of endeavor, is debatable. A working prototype in a real car will probably have to appear before hard data can be logged. It seems, that Scuderi’s prototype is running on the dyno since june 2009. So why does Scuderi still present only SIMULATED performance data, and not those measured on the dyno?
Please note, that the performance of an engine, when it comes to fuel economy, is best assessed by its specific fuel consumption, expressed in g(fuel)/kWh(mechanical work). A conventional gasoline engine achieves an optimal specific fuel consumption of 240..250 g/kWh. A modern car diesel engine does achieve 200…210 g/kWh. My very first five-stroke gasoline prototype did achieve 226 g/kWh on the dyno. Currently another five-stroke prototype is built, and the corresponding dyno results will be available in February 2012.
when can i get some stock, when is the the working prototype comming out?
All this has been said for years…yawn. Saw these guys about a year ago when they were in New York looking for capital. Saw them about a year before that, too. Then I saw them about a year before that. I think they were saying the same thing then that the article says now. When one of these engines finally gets in a car, I’ll probably be retired so I couldn’t spend the dough and watch it sit around forever. I believe some of the current investors have been languishing for a decade or more. Based on what I saw from this company, another decade will pass by before any return on investment is realized. Great product, tough market. I wish them luck.
The Scuderis continue to impress me with their accomplishments and ability to acquire funding and interest.
When articles are written about split cycle engines, Scuderi and Tour are usually mentioned. They have sold their ideas to the public very well.
The DRE is also a split cycle design. We introduced it to the public for the first time in April of 2011. We are 100 percent self-funded although a few million dollars of funding would not hurt our feelings.
We have our next prototype close to completion. Where hoping for it to run in February.
Good luck to the Scuderis and again they have done very well promoting their engine design.
I have been reading up on them and would like to know when stock will be available.
Thanks
Lois
Lois..there were 3 or 4 offerings in the past few years. When I purchased..Scuderi was not dealing on the retail level. They were only selling blocks of 100,000 shares mostly to large institutions and not individual investors. Through the network I was able to participate by buying through an investment club in NYC. They got 1 block and sold shares to individuals in blocks of a 1000 minimum. When we go public,,shares will be available unless another offering is announced; but I think not. Good Luck to you Lois.
There is exactly zero new news.
I guess I’m quite Lucky to have secured shares of scuderi “Pre-IPO”. There was a time period to get these and I’m ecstatic to see that the investing public feels the same excitement as I did; when I investigated this new engineering revolution a few years back. GO Scuderi,,it will be similar to Pre Google IPO..or Microsoft and other outstanding opportunities $$$$$
Whats the latest Frank?
I still monittor almost every automotive publication and many of us still have seen ZERO News since December. There was however one new air hybrid blog listed on Scuderi Website.
Same out here. Very quiet. Some bloggers are suggesting we are in pre-IPO blackout but I don’t know how accurate that is.
“B” check this out…a mysterious mssg appeared HERE in response to something I said. The mssg was from a “Friend of Scuderi” quite anonymous.
Upon reading it because it was Directed “To Frank”….it stated something of a Celebratorious (celebrating) nature.
I was extremely excited and it referenced to an IPO Blackout period. 2 days later this message disappeared from this site. HOW can a person remove a message? It’s no-longer here !!!! If that “Friend” is reading this 1) You caught my attention + 2) can you say something again ???
Maybe the message was bogus….maybe not. Somebody “Out There” knows more than we do !!! My answer was and still is ” YES, I’ll be there to Celebrate”. “B” This situation was quite mysterious. I know no more….
I’m keeping my fingers crossed… FW….
Hello again Frank.
Regarding your last post, dated 2 April,
I can only guess why my previous post mysteriously disappeared. (Wasn’t me who removed it.)
My guess is that my suspicion about the pre IPO quite period was on the mark, the Scuderi’s have some pull with the site administrators, and they had it removed so as to not risk SEC suspicion of inappropriate disclosure of upcoming events. I have absolutely no insider connections or information, I’m just somewhat familiar with both the Scuderi marketing plan and the IPO process by way of my self imposed internet tutoring on both subjects. You must have noticed the recent announcements and multiple press releases regarding the miller cycle patents and the upcoming SAE Convention, end of April. Could it be that Scuderi’s will be announcing an OEM License Agreement signing soon, and submit their S1 form to the SEC to begin the IPO process? Could that be our Scuderi ship on the horizon? Looking pretty good to me!
vtr,
Scuderifan
Hey Scuderi Fan……4-6-12….I posted a nice but in-depth reply to you….
Guess What ??? It vaporized and is now missing!!!! I wonder WHY ???
I have NO SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE. I only know “A Winner” when I see one.
I guess this whole site’s days are numbered ????? This Project may be a bust or it will revolutionize the engine (ice) world. NOT just cars….
FW
If Scuderi goes public….I gotta shake your hand !!!
Good morning Frank,
First of all, NO WAY this whole thing is a bust. It has taken longer than expected and naturally the nay sayers (and the non-investors) would rationalize and vocalize that thought but…
Several things point toward upcoming announcements of a license agreement signing or signings and an IPO to follow. if you closely review the last Form D on file with the SEC, available by searching “Scuderi Group” at the following web site, you’ll see that Scuderi’s were allowed to collect additional investment monies until June 30, 2012.
http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch.html
You may recall that the investment clubs were instructed to or not allowed to, collect additional investments as of July 2011. The reason for that I believe is so that the books could get closed and justified, so as to prepare for dissemination of signing bonus funds and initial IPO shares. The ONLY thing that would make me think that we are not close to that process happening is if the Scuderi’s file another Form D and begin to collect investment money again.
Keep the faith my friend,
The recent patent disclosures and technical papers press release was very widely publicized globally throughout the financial, automotive and marine industries. The website above, by the way, is the same place to keep an eye on for visibility of the S1 Registration Statement but I would, and do, expect you to get word first from your investment club administrator, that a License Agreement has been signed. With the prospect ahead of summer gas prices reaching $5.00 a gallon, this would be the perfect time to take the world by storm!
Scuderifan
Thankyou Scuderi Fan,,,,, I Look Foward to meeting you soon…..very excited to gain from your knowledge. I was a commodity guy; not a stock / IPO person. I wish the Scuderis Good Luck and hopefully this project succeeds as planned.

Imagine what the world will say when it’s 80 + mpg ?????
Well, it’s now April 29th and the SAE World Congress 2012 is over. Still no news. No announcements. If we are indeed in a black-out period, then I would not yet be concerned. The last newsletter from the company was dated December 20th, 2011. That letter implied that any further communication with investors would have to conform to SEC guidelines for companies preparing for an IPO. If a licensing agreement has been signed or is about to be signed, then both parties are keeping it very quiet. Alternatively, it is quite possible that previously interested OEMs are backtracking or delaying in order to explore other options. I’ve had my skin in this game for seven years now and still waiting, perhaps waiting for Godot.
Still waiting on the IPO…..is this the blackout period everyone speaks about before an IPO. I invested 1 block and I am waiting for a return. I believe in this but it seems to always get pushed back and back and back. What do you guys think? What kind of return am I looking at if this thing goes through
KEEP THE FAITH ALL!!! it’s gonna be a wild summer!
Its GOOD to see that people are searching for News. I’m watching and waiting like everyone and I can’t wait for someone to report the Good News that “WE ” all seek together…..Keep the Info coming !!!!!
Here’s an interesting video folks,
http://www.engineeringtv.com/video/Split-Cycle-Four-Stroke-Engine?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+engineeringtv+(Engineering+TV)
Pay attention to Stephen’s comments at the very end. Working in an engineering developement capacity, I can tell you that the 3 to 5 year estimate for “commercial availability” is suggestive that a licensing agreement is signed soon if not already.
Hey… I always like your positive tone Scuderifan. Keeping in research.. I found a web page in “Automoive Industries” Vol 188 #1 page 10. It’s an awesome article and with the 3 year delay concept in mind…Scuderi Engine in 2012 really set me on fire….. Unless I’m wrong this and other publicized articles ALL point to 2012 (This Year) as THE YEAR when its gonna hit the fan…..ScuderiFan. AND you casually said this is going to be a wild SUMMER…. MIght You be RIGHT ???? I can’t wait to see…..

Look at this:
In 2009 Scuderi said:”Usually, supercharging requires added equipment
and increased cost by up to thousands of dollars per engine. However, because of the Scuderi Split-Cycle design, supercharging
is a simple matter of increasing the size of the compression cylinder.”
In other words, 2009:”NO Turbocharger + INCREASING compression cylinder size = good thing!”
In 2012 Scuderi says:”By separating the compression cyclinder from the power cylinder, the size of the compression cylinder can be reduced to eliminate some of the negative compression work and, by incorporating a turbocharger into the engine’s design, exhaust gas-energy can be recovered to achieve substantial reductions in negative work.”
In other words, 2012:”YES Turbocharger + REDUCING compression cylinder size = good thing!”
So what???
But what’s your point ???
Hi Frank,
My point is the following. The Scuderi engine, neither with, nor without turbo seems to be have some benefits compared to a 4-stroke engine. In addition, I think, that the Scuderi people have not much knowledge when it comes to ICE. In 2009, they say, as already mentioned, “supercharging requires increased cost by up to thousands of dollars per engine”. This is simply not true! A turbocharger (incl. equipment) costs about 300 dollar per engine. Then Scuderi did claim already in 2009 for their NA (natural aspirated) Scuderi engine a 50% fuel economy compared to conventional ICE. Again, this is simply not true! A conventional petrol ICE achieves a specific fuel consumption of about 250 g/kWh. Today Scuderi does announce themselves a (simulated!?) specific fuel consumption for their NA split cycle engine of 269 gr/kWh, which is obviously higher, and NOT LOWER than that of the conventional ICE.
And last but not least, as I already pointed out in earlier posts:! Why does Scuderi still today publish only SIMULATED performance data? What about MEASURED performance data, i.e. MEASURED specific fuel consumption figures?
Mr Schmitz, that’s a lot of info to digest. Anyone hearing anything about a newsletter coming out?
Boom or Bust….only time will tell. As a former Rubber and Plastics Automotive Engineer, and a retired Commodity Trader, I KNOW that Risk is Proportionate to Reward. I’m in this kinda large and I roll my dice hard. I can sense something happening. It’s a gut feeling and it seems that many of you feel it too. I say “Let the apples fall where they may “. SOON we will have an answer and I’ll meet everyone at the signing party if SCUDERI goes public.
GO SCUDERI !!!!!
There won’t be anymore newsletters according to their last newsletter of December 2011. And, as Gerhard Schmitz has indicated above, there have been too many inconsistencies in the in information that the company has released over the years. At first, back in 2005, they stated that this split cycle design (no air hybrid or Miller back then) would have significantly more efficiency than an Otto based ICE. This turned out not to be true and the company then said that based on simulations at SWRI, the Scuderi split-cycle would be about as efficient or perhaps only slightly more than an Otto cycle engine. They also said, as stated above, that you could internally turbocharge the engine by upsizing the compression cylinder (which they later retracted). After that, they then said that you could get the big gains in fuel efficiency by adding the air tank. Then following that, they said, well, actually Millerizing the engine would produce the most gains in efficiency. Disconcerting to say the least.
As far as “published data”, it is true that only simulated results have been released to the public. After raising 87 million dollars, one would naturally expect there to be a working driving running prototype with hard data to back up the simulated claims. However, Sal has stated in the past that they would prefer the OEM’s to build their own prototypes. That’s a good gig if you can get it I suppose, but a tough trick to pull off.
At this point, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
yea, ok, and you know what youre talking about lol. hater.
Frank, Frank, Frank,
I thought I told you to keep the faith. What’s with all the negativety? (Boom or bust…) Well at least you came back from the dark side and got the “SOON” part right. I believe congratulations will be in order sooner than you think!
Scuderifan
Hi Scuderifan,,, Your Positivity gives guys like me , the strength to Stand Upright against recent negative tones. The last 1/4 mile is often the toughest.
)
Yea,,,,there’s negative talk ; but any investment is worth the wait.. Many times I’ve gone against the “Herd” mentality; that’s why reward is proportionate to RISK. If this were just easy, everyone would want in. Only time will tell and I’m sure the Scuderi Team is aware of our questions. I like the technology; nothing can bluff me into losing faith. Stick around Scuderi Fan ….keep me posted and the Positive Spirit growing…..Thanks

TODAY 5/ 14/12… I just recieved my Scuderi Investor Update. We’re in FORMAL negotiations with a few auto companies and licesees. A Public announcement to follow when each is finalized….
Get a copy…..sounds positive to me folks. THIS could very well be,,, “The Year”
There’s talk at a few sites and I’m happy to repeat this to any non-believer.
Keep the GOOD NEWS COMING !!!!!
