Weighing in at about 35 percent of standard small car poundage, and using only one-tenth the electricity of a typical compact, the RAKe will be targeted at the youngish driving demographic. The light steel frame is covered with synthetic material, deliberately avoiding expensive composites. Opel press announcements say the RAKe was directly inspired by the Ampera. Solar panels on the roof of a home are able to provide all energy needs for the car. Now, that’s alternative driving at its best.
