Rolls Royce, the luxury automaker, is also joining the Eco-friendly movement, and according to UK newspaper the Daily Mail, the Goodwood England based carmaker is working on a hybrid or electric vehicle(s) for the 2012 London Olympic games.

Speculation around a “green” Roll Royce has been going around for a while now and the highly successful Ghost model is the main driving force behind this.  The Rolls Royce company sells about three Ghosts to every Phantom.

Quoting Rolls Royce CEO, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, “An electric or alternately fueled experimental Rolls Royce model would be a good idea!”

The companies flagship $500,000 Phantom currently manages just 15 miles to the gallon.

With the world’s eyes watching the 2012 Olympics, where parent company, BMW, will be showing off their low emissions cars to 80,000 VIPs going to and from different venues, it could be the perfect opportunity to showcase just such a vehicle running on electric power,
