Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel

The total redesign of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is now complete, and the result was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show this week. The 240-horsepower EcoDiesel is expected to rate 21/30 mpg and boasts a range of about 730 miles, enough to drive from the Detroit show all the way to New York City and then some. Besides the diesel, there are also V-6 and V-8 versions of the JGC. The restyled rear tail lamps, grille, headlamps, and dozens of interior components make for a truly reborn Jeep.

Delivering 30 mpg and boasting a 730-mile range, the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel is a strong entry into the aspiring U.S. diesel market, which finally seems to be catching on after so many years of stagnation. With more standard high-tech features than ever before, and a laundry list of impressive options, the EcoDiesel Jeep could easily fill a 30-minute video review, but the following 2-minute summation will have to suffice for now. With so much focus on the vehicle’s performance and exterior styling, it is easy to overlook the interior, which has also been thoroughly redesigned for the ultimate in form and function.

Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel

The interior of the new EcoDiesel has been rearranged to fit the touch screens, which come in either 5 or 8.4-inch versions depending on whether the buyer goes for standard or option. The steering wheel was not left out of the re-do, nor was the instrument cluster, both of which are unrelated to the previous configurations. Judging from early media reaction to Jeep’s newest model, the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel will be a success when it lands in showrooms for the 2014 model year.
